In my opinion, the best protein sources make for the best gym sessions.
But factually, protein and exercise go hand in hand.
Or at least they should.
Some people know that protein is essential for the growth of muscles, but not everyone understands the importance of protein.
For instance, back when I started weight lifting a few years back, I had no clue that protein was pivotal. I did recognize that, in a general everyday sense, making sure I was eating at least a little bit of protein on a daily basis was wise.
However, that’s where the extent of my knowledge regarding protein’s importance stopped. I didn’t realize that protein was going to become something I prioritized as much as I do now, but over time, I not only came to learn that protein is key when lifting weights, but I also started feel a lot better overall, thanks to my increased protein intake.
Even so, back when I started eating a lot of protein, I vividly remember being appalled by how expensive protein sources can be. While I still hold that sentiment to a certain degree, I have realized over time that there are ways to meet protein goals, no matter how high your desired intake is, all without breaking the bank or taking on more hours to afford the protein part of your macro breakdown.
Reaching your protein goals doesn’t have to look like steak, steak, and more steak. You don’t need to pick up the most exquisite slab of salmon that Whole Foods has to offer… Though, holy moly — I am quite the fan of Whole Foods’ salmon. Their shrimp hits the spot — as I hit my protein goals — as well, but there are so many other foods to reach for when seeking to meet your macros.
