A little while ago, I went to the store on a mission to pick up what I consider to be the top 5 best high protein snacks from Target. I even put together a YouTube video showing you what I picked up and explaining the snacks in great detail!
If you’d like to view that video, you can do so with ease by clicking on the link below.
Something I’ve noticed in the fitness industry is that there’s this sort of complex regarding protein. A lot of people love to get their protein from more natural sources like fish, yogurt, and cheese.
And while I seek out these foods for protein as well, there are a handful of protein snacks I can’t help but love. I think there’s a misconception that your protein sources have to be part of the list of so-called clean foods but I don’t personally subscribe to that idea.
Rather, I eat what sounds good when it sounds good, and I don’t judge myself if I’m reaching for a protein cookie instead of a fillet of salmon. And you shouldn’t feel any amount of shame either!
It’s okay to eat snacks. And it’s fine if you prefer protein bars over cheese sticks sometimes. Whenever I’m in the mood for a high protein snack, these are some of the foods I reach for!
Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookies
Boy oh boy do I love the snickerdoodle Lenny and Larry’s Complete Cookies! They’re soft and chewy on top of being very moist, which baffles me because these aren’t homemade just-baked cookies by any means… But they taste as though they are! It’s wild.
The sugar granules coating the outside of the cookies add an extra dimension to these snickerdoodle high protein treats from Lenny and Larry.
All of that said, Target is currently out of the snickerdoodle flavor of Lenny and Larry’s Complete Cookies! That’s such a bummer, but it’s okay because they tend to restock their items really quickly.
In the meantime, I figured I would share my second favorite Lenny and Larry’s Complete Cookie flavor. It’s none other than white chocolate macadamia.
Premier Protein Clear Protein Drink
The clear protein drinks from Premier Protein are an absolute god-send. They taste just like water despite not being water at all! But it’s a lovely easy way to add twenty grams of protein to your day without squeezing in something heavy.
In fact, I often grab one of these high protein drinks on my way out the door as I’m heading to the gym, and I’ll drink these during my lifting sessions. You could tell me they were just flavored water and I’d believe you. That’s how refreshing and light these are!
My favorite flavor is peach! The other flavor is tropical punch, which isn’t too shabby either. I’ve just never had tastebuds that gravitate towards anything tropical punch flavored, but I still drink it every once in awhile!
Premier Protein Cafe Latte Shakes
On the topic of Premier Protein, I couldn’t help but include the cafe latte flavored protein shakes in my list of top 5 best high protein snacks from Target! As I mentioned in my YouTube video, these protein shakes taste a lot like Corn Pops cereal.
I know how unrelated these two flavors sound, but trust me! This protein shake is delicious. The coffee flavor is present but not overpowering, and it’s lightly sweetened in a way that emulates… Well, Corn Pops! Hahah let me know if you try these Premier Protein shakes and you agree with my flavor description. I can’t be the only one.
One Brand Almond Bliss High Protein Bar
If you love the Almond Joy chocolate bar, then you’re the perfect match for One Brand Almond Bliss protein bars. As you’d expect, these high protein bars are a heavenly combination of chocolate and almond with a little hint of coconut dropped into the mix!
There are a few whole almonds lining the top layer of the protein bar, adding a fun crunch to an otherwise consistent texture. The low sugar content of these protein bars is also an appealing detail, especially for a protein bar! With only one gram of sugar, these protein bars are impressively macro-friendly for those of you working with a low daily carb intake.
One Brand Blueberry Cobbler High Protein Bar
Similar to the almond-flavored protein bars, these One Brand Blueberry Cobbler protein bars are delectable. Once upon a time, these bars were sprinkled with little cobbler crust crumbs but now, they are made in a different way!
Instead of having cobbler crust sprinkles, the protein bar is now layered with a blueberry-flavored layer and a cobbler-flavored layer enrobed in a dark chocolate coating.
These are absolutely delicious warmed up in the microwave and if you’re feeling super duper summery, may I recommend adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side? I’m drooling just thinking about it! It’s a yummy macro-cap at the end of a long day, I’ll tell ya that much.
