Sometimes, when you’re feeling anything but motivated or focused, you just need to read a quote jam-packed with verbal inspiration!
Now, I don’t know about you but… Not much else motivates me more than quite literally a motivational speech. I spend the first hour I’m awake searching YouTube for motivational speeches. They really truly do kick my bum into gear like no other.
This morning, I thought I’d share three of my all-time favorite inspiration quotes that keep me focused and motivated day in and day out.
“Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success.”
These words are attributed to Joyce Brothers. And when a psychologist like her passes on words of wisdom, I tend to listen with open ears.
If you’re familiar with the law of attraction, then you might see my line of thinking here because this quote really inspires me to remember that it’s all about mind over matter.
If you stay fixated on the dreary and unpleasant aspects of your life, then the negativity clouds your vision. You won’t be able to see the wondrous gifts life gives you or count any blessings because your focus is concentrated on all that you despise.
It’s the whole idea of thinking of yourself as the person you want to be, not the person you are. The disconnect between what you’re thinking and what’s real will resolve itself because it’s human nature to seek harmony between the two.
Whenever I read these words, I feel an immediate spring in my step. It rejuvenates me in the best of ways!
“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”
You might be wondering why in the world Mark Twain’s view on honesty has anything to do with focus, motivation, or inspiration. See, from an outside perspective, you have a point… But allow me to explain how I made the connection!
I spend a lot of time online. I mean, who in the world doesn’t these days? People with more sense of self-control than me, I suppose.
But with the amount of content I consume, it’s easy to pick up on little details that people who rarely scroll social media might not normally spot. And one of those little details I can’t stop seeing everywhere I go is dishonesty.
Especially within the influencer world.
Influencers tend to warp the truth or bend reality in ways that complement them. For instance, it’s difficult to trust an influencer when they are doing brand deals.
They’ll over-exaggerate how much they like a product, or they’ll hype up a service in a way that just doesn’t suit the context. I understand they are working side-by-side with a brand and therefore they are responsible for making the brand look amazing, but the over-the-top way of doing so is not a good look.
Now, not all influencers are like this! Not by any means. But many are.
And the problem that this hyperbolized way of presenting products to an audience creates is… A lack of trust.
How can you rely on the reviews from an influencer who constantly says everything is the absolute best thing to ever exist?
Well, you simply can’t.
Plus, dramatizations lead to white lies, which can certainly be harmless but they become really hard to keep up with, too. If you lie so casually as you breathe, you’ll slowly but definitely surely start forgetting what you’ve said in the past. From there, the lack of trust becomes a snowball that gets bigger and bigger and bigger as the days pass by.
As cliché as the phrase may be, honesty is always the best policy.
Always — no matter which line of work you strive to be successful in someday.
“For what it’s worth… It’s never too late — or, in my case, too early — to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again. “
Last but not at all least, here we have my all-time favorite inspirational quote that fuels me even when I’m feeling somewhat hopeless. There’s nothing more adrenaline-inducing than a good old-fashioned reminder that we are in control of our lives.
If you’re stuck in a position that makes you feel wildly unhappy, I encourage you to pinpoint some of the reasons that might be contributing to your current headspace.
Once you identify the root of your unhappiness or lack of contentment, you can work in strides to eliminate those issues. But it’s not possible to fix the problems if you’re not quite sure what they are yet.
Just remember that you don’t have to put up with anything that crosses your boundaries. And we so easily fall into routines that can be hard to shake, but it’s important to mix things up so that we don’t become robotically mundane.
Do you have a favorite quote, or two, or three?
If so, and if you’re comfortable sharing it with me, please feel free!
I’m always looking for inspiration to add to my existing repertoire ♡
